Ingenius Footwear That Grows With You- Let's Catch Up #34
Iconic Memo Bottle Goes Metal, Refilled Reduces Plastic Waste With BYO Dispenser, Autonomous 24hr Coffee Station, Futuristic Concept for Airborne Racing, Nestle Switch to Paper Based Coffee Packaging
Welcome back. Continuing the personal stories from me this week.
Another question that came up was why cover so many different industries in the newsletter?
This is my personal opinion. Innovation and design are universal, not industry specific. To be truly breakthrough with your solutions you need to be informed and inspired by solutions across the spectrum of industries that exist in our world. A solution for offshore energy could also be implemented into household appliances as a loose example.
I enjoy being informed as well as inspired from numerous different industries and sectors in our world. So I hope to inspire my readers with the same information and thinking about how these solutions impact your existing role/job.
And what I cover is only a tiny fraction of all the amazing developements from around the globe every week. It’s truly inspiring.
Now let’s get on with it!
Footwear That Grows With You
PRODUCT/INNOVATION

Credit Target
UNOS is an innovative concept from shoe designer Dr D’Wayne Edwards who partnered with Target to create a line of shoes that can be enlarged and adjusted with the consumer as they grow. A major reason for new footwear is outgrowing older pairs especially for children. Featuring a Z shape sole design, the sole of the shoe can be adjusted both length and width to accommodate growth and size changes. This new innovation not only adjusts with size increases but can also be adjusted for daily foot swelling. Additionally this innovative solution will reduce the volume of shoes required for people as footwear has a major waste problem, with extremely low material recycling and reuse. I love to see innovations such as this in a category that traditionally innovates with materials, to see a technical solution to address one of the biggest challenges in footwear is incredible.

If F1 racing isn’t cutting it anymore then this introduction of flying car racing created by a partnership between Airspeeders and HOK will have you picturing a potential new aerial racing sport. Their design features a vertiport called the ‘skyport’ which acts as a racing hub for the teams as well as the main viewing platform for spectators. This is an interesting take on a potential new sport that would bring extra spectacle to than what we are used to with four wheels on the ground.

The paper will be post consumer recycled fiber as well, helping improve the impact of this packaging solution.
