Beverage Innovation- New Automated Device Cools in 3 Minutes and Reduces Energy Consumption

This device for drinks retailers enables them to sell cold drinks to consumers quickly, reducing the expense and energy use in refrigeration. Wine bottles can be chilled within 4 minutes whilst cans only take 1 minute. I find this quite appealing not only for the effectiveness but reducing the energy use in refrigeration is critical. Refrigeration can use between 25-85% of a company's total energy use!

Automotive Design- Living Room Inspired Lancia EV Interior

Lancia’s new concept car presents the brand’s vision of electrification in cars. Partnering with furniture company Cassina which includes a table with induction technology in the center console promoting a more automated future car ride experience.

This stool designed by Alexander Lotersztain uses 80% post-industrial plastic. A playful way to reduce waste and repurpose material that can create an engaging piece of furniture that other brands often translate into a homogeneous static object.

Sustainable Product Design- DIY to Upgrade Apple Airpods to USB-C

When devices go through major changes often it is implemented to the latest models, requiring consumers to update their devices to the latest model to get updated features. This is a great example of how we can make device updates and changes, accessible, affordable and more sustainable by enabling consumers to upgrade their existing device themself.

Product Design- Virtual and Real World Blend with Honda x UNI-ONE

Coined as an extended reality device (XR), this segway chair enables users to maneuver through virtual and real space. Interestingly this has application for potential future wheelchair design where depending on the user requirements the chair can be intuitively controlled and maneuvered in a completely new way by those with lower limb challenges.

Concept Design- Dune: Dragonfly Inspired Ornithopter (Aircraft)

If you can’t tell I enjoy Frank Herbert’s Dune. So Denis Villeneuve’s films have been a refreshing take on the classic sci-fi novella. I really enjoy concept design in sci-fi as it is often grounded in reality of what is achievable under real world constraints but pushed to the extreme. I believe this enables us to envision futures and what potential technologies could be relevant a future world.
