App Making Container Deposit Scheme Easier in Queensland
DIGITAL/SUSTAINABILITY

Each year, Queenslanders use over 3 billion drink containers. While many are recycled to create new containers, millions still end up in landfills. Although some are already returning their containers for a refund, many struggle with the time or effort involved. This is where the Containers for Change program introduces a collection service, available through their new app. This service allows people to schedule a container pickup directly from their home with just a few simple steps. It’s a quick and effortless way to reduce waste and make a positive environmental impact. With more container deposit schemes being launched across Australia it is great to see solutions that aim to increase participation in recycling correctly.

CycloTech, an Austrian company specializing in flying car technology, has revealed exciting plans for its new "BlackBird" demonstrator aircraft. The Blackbird incorporates a revolutionary propulsion system. This aircraft uses the innovative all-electric propulsion system inspired by the Voith Schneider propeller, commonly found in tugboats and ferries. The CycloRotor features circular rotors with small blades that spin, offering both propulsion and steering capabilities. This unique design allows for precise control over airspeed and direction, enabling the BlackBird to move in any direction and offers a new frontier in the future of aerial transportation.
